This gun was sent back to S&W and restored 09/1965 as per the date and star stamped on the grip frame under the grip. This gun is in excellent condition. and mechanically like new. Shoots good too! The color case is perfect. The bluing on the trigger guard is perfect. This is an almost new gun from the 1880's. Has a four digit serial number 2457. Real cowboy gun from the cowboy years! My friend Taco Bill(William Mullins) goes to the Tulsa Gun Show every time it is held. He is a casual friend of Supica and Nahas of Smith and Wesson history fame. Taco took this pistol to Tulsa and asked several people in the Smith & Wesson Click what they thought of it. Naturally they all liked it. They took the grip off and said that it appeared to them that the gun had been sent back to Smith on 09/1965 and restored. That is what I was told by William(Taco). One or all of them agreed that back in the day Smith marked guns that had been back to the factory with a star. Look in the pictures and you will see a star and 965.
