Description:
24 inch round tapered barrel chambered in the desirable 405 WCF caliber. Dark bore has good rifling and needs a cleaning. Sights include ramp mounted Lyman No. 4 with bead missing and a flat top sporting rear sight with a "Climibin Lyman" No.21 receiver sight. Good amount of thinning blue on the barrel with some gray showing through near the frame. Receiver is mostly a gray/brown. Ebony tipped forearm has a glued repair near the tip of the left side. Buttstock has typical handling dings and a steel crescent rifle buttplate. Stocks have been refinished at some time. This gun was manufactured in 1899. The 405 Win. was the most powerful lever-action cartridge of its day. Theodore Roosevelt famously referred to this rifle as his "'medicine gun' for lions."
