Description:
Serial #1221, .70 Caliber, 36 1/4" barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a well-made and sturdy rifle-musket that retains its original armory bright finish on the barrel, lock, and buttplate. The "A. FRANCOTTE / A / LIEGE" and Zurich marked barrel and lock, hammer, and breech iron have even, thin freckling throughout, with some dark spots of oxidation on the buttplate. All markings, including the "E / LG" proof, are crisp and sharp. The stock is in very good condition with numerous minor handling marks spread about the old, added oil finish. The Francotte "AF" cartouche is still quite crisp on the right side of the butt, and the brass bands and other furniture are in fine shape with an appealing yellow-ochre patina throughout. The action is fully functional, and an original ramrod is included. This is a rarely seen Swiss percussion military longarm, and is in very good-near fine condition. Antique
