Synopsis: Wonderful, near new, S&W Model 539, 1 of 200 guns to have a long thin extractor. A desirable matte finish version with a fixed rear sight, ensemble complete with spare mag, vintage box, literature, and factory letter! Description: This S&W 539 pistol, in 9mmP, with narrow extractor, fixed rear sight, and matte finish was manufactured in 1982 and shipped Dec. 3, 1985 to G.T. Distributors of Rossville, GA. per June 2007 factory letter as a special ordered pistol, 8159 units 1981-1984. The gun was a steel frame version of the M39 with an ambidextrous safety. They were made in a variety of finishes, one of the most desirable being this matte finish, and fitted with S&W logo walnut grips. Checkered back strap with lanyard loop. This example is unusual in having the long, thin extractor and the fairly scarce fixed rear sight. Complete with spare magazine, earlier vintage box and M39 manual/paperwork, and factory letter signed by Roy G. Jinks. According to Mr. Jinks, this is 1 of 200 guns that featured the long, thin extractor as documented in the accompanying factory letter! Condition: Crisp 99+% original matte finish with comparable condition grips. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Scuffed box as pictured.
