Description:
VERY FINE CONDITION 1886 EXTRA LIGHT .45-70, NICKEL STEEL MARKED BARREL, #131XXX, MADE 1903. This rifle with correct 22" light weight round barrel shows nearly all the blue, as does the short magazine tube. It retains sharp markings including the "NICKEL STEEL" stamping and is fitted with a flat top buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and a Lyman "Jack" (half moon with ivory bead) front sight. The receiver retains most of the bright blue with only the slightest of thinning and only some silvering on the bottom, and even the upper tang retains excellent blue. Still some case color on the lever sides (more on the left side). Exc.screw heads. Generally fine+ stock and forend with only very light handling marks. Winchester embossed hard rubber butt plate. Fine mech. with solid safety half cock. Bore about excellent with any roughness very minor and surface. Nice 120 year old .45-70. $4250.
