CUSTOM FANCY GEMMER/HAWKEN STYLE .45-70 TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD CONVERSION. A fine custom job on a Springfiueld 1884 dated breech block and serisal number in the 180XXX range with a round 26" barrel and double set triggers. Fancy striped maple stock with cheek piece and with serated steel butt plate and protective toe plate. Also comes with a leather lace-on butt plate with tab for sling attachment- nice for hunting. Iron mounted Hawken style trigger guard, mid range vernier tang sight mated with a Beach folding globe front sight and rear barrel dovetail blank filler. The forend is fitted with a pewter Sharps style tip. The lock plate has been polished and deeply blued along with the hammer and breech block. Bright blue barrel. Weighs approx. 8 1/2 lbs and has a 13 3/4" length of pull from the center of the butt plate to the front trigger. All in excellent overall condition inside and out. The previous owner inherited this rifle and thought the barrel was by Green Mountain. These are very expensive custom conversions to have built.
