Description:
CIVIL WAR SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE COMPANY MODEL 1860 CARBINE CIRCA 1864. 52 Rimfire caliber 22” barrel. Spencer Boston address on frame as well as the March 1860 patent date. Serial number in the 46,xxx range. Found near the site of the Battle of Petersburg by a local collector in the 1940’s. Relic condition with crusty old dark patina except hammer which is original in fine condition and certainly a replacement. Complete and action in functioning order. Poor bore. Wood with wear. Union Cavalry issue but many captured by Confederates. John Wilkes Booth had one just like this one when he was killed.
