EARLY FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT MODEL 1878 HAMMER SIDE X SIDE 12 GAUGE 30” DAMASCUS SHOTGUN CIRCA 1879. 2 ½” chambers. Choked Modified and Modified. Serial numbered in the 19xx range and all matching. Barrel addressed on rib “COLTS PF ARMS MANFG CO. HARTFORD CT. USA.” Lock plates engraved “COLTS PF ARMS MANFG. CO”. All original including both hammers. Factory floral scroll engraved on frame, lock plates, hammers, breech and barrel tang. Game scene engraved on trigger guard with very fine “SETTER W/WOODCOCK” in bordered cartouche. Finest quality Damascus barrels. Deluxe walnut semi-pistol grip checkered stock and forend. Factory steel butt plate. Extra nice very good plus condition with crisp original grey patina and excellent wood with no cracks or damage. Perfect working order, tight on face and very good bores. Scarce high grade special order Colt Model 1878.
