The metal has an overall plum-brown patina with patches of rough surface oxidation and pinprick pitting along the length of the blade. The base of the socket has a clear unit marking next to the dogleg: "VI / 98" (6th Company, No. 98). This is a great looking Rev War era bayonet, and is in very good, "attic find" condition. It would make a splendid display piece or companion to a similarly aged Brown Bess. SOLD |
