Description:
AyA XXV Sidelock ejector pair of 20 gauge SxS shotguns. This is “true”, factory consecutively numbered matched pair of guns.
This matched pair was made sometime between 1978 – 1983. These guns were made in Eibar, Spain by well-known maker AyA who used “best” English guns for patterns! The XXV or Model 25 copied Holland & Holland style hand detachable 7-pin sidelocks and the barrels, with the raised sold rib in 25” length, were nearly identical to the famous Churchill model XXV game gun barrels. These chopper lump barrels are marked Mod/Full and measure closer to F/F at .018”/.018”.
In this tale of two guns, this pair shows usage like many matched pairs where one gun is pristine and the other shows signs of use. In this case Gun #1 has been fired and handled but it retains 98% original finishes and just a few light “rub” marks on the stock. Gun #2 saw the lions share of usage and maybe even a little neglect. There are noticeable spots of surface rust on the barrels and a few more handling marks on the straight/English grip buttstock. The guns are marked #1 & #2 on the top ribs, on the opening levers and discreetly inside the splinter forearms. The splinter forearms have Anson style push-button style forearm releases
Both guns retain a remarkable amount of case colors..well over 90%! Both guns are mechanically excellent and tight. Double triggers and automatic safeties.
The stocks have 13 ¾” LOP over ¾” full leather recoil pads that look original with 1 7/16” DAC and 2 ¼” DAH with cast of 5/16” favoring a right hand shooter.
Cased in a handsome, fitted two-gun full leather takedown case.
