Description:
Manufactured in 1905, serial number 269670, this Bisley retains about 70-75% of the original factory finish. This gun shows sharp edge wear on the high edge points of the cylinder and frame. The 7 ½-inch barrel and ejection rod show a mottled finish that takes on a brown hue in bright sunlight. This mottling affects about 50% of the barrel and 60% of the ejection housing. There is an abrasion to the finish on the left side of the recoil shield. The front and back straps show finish wear from use – but are not brown or crazed. There are a few freckles on the grip frame and trigger guard. Despite these noted shortcomings this gun is a great example of an original SAA Bisley. The case-hardened frame shows excellent color – mostly blue and brown hues. The front and back straps show a fair amount of blue but no rust. The action is solid and tight presenting all four solid clicks. The barrel, frame and ejector housing are blue with some areas turning brown. The internals are clean and rust-free. The grips are original and all numbers match. The trigger and screws retain over 90% of their fire-blue finish; bore looks almost new. Front sight is a target model with ivory bead. I believe that this gun was stored for most of the past 118 years. Not often seen in this caliber, configuration and condition, this Bisley would improve most any Colt collection.
