Description:
The Model 40 was Winchester's unsuccessful attempt into the Semi-Auto shotgun market. This Model was poorly designed and many were recalled. 12 Gauge shotgun features a 24 inch round barrel that has a 2-3/4 inch chamber and a Cutts Compensator with Improved Cylinder (755 ) insert. A very good bore that is bright and shiny. Gun has been refinished overall with metal surfaces showing about all of the deep dark re-blue. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm. Wood is full fitting showing a coat of finish added with a repair at the toe of the butt. Winchester marked hard rubber butt plate. A fairly rare gun as only about 12,000 were manufactured over a one year period from 1940-1941. This one is serial number 34!
