It is also unique in a sense that it was dramatically different from any previous or following US percussion pistols in a number of ways. The hammer is contained inside the lock plate rather than outside. There is no belt hook on the left side of the stock, a feature that was almost synonymous with any Naval service pistol at the time. The stock also has a flat butt compared to arounded brass mounted butt that dominated mililtary service pistols designs. This was also the first US Navy pistol adopted in any significant numbers. The pistol for sale is in good overall condition, with visible inspectors stamps on the barrel, lock and stock. Action works fine with a two step hammer. No license needed to buy except NJ residents.
