Description:
I have a Winchester Model 1886 with a 26" round barrel in 40-65 manufactured in 1894. The 86 started life with a full length magazine tube but was shortened to look like a take down or for functionality. The change in the 86 looks to be done a ways back but was done correctly. The metal retains very little finish, but the metal is very smooth and shows almost zero pitting. The forearm has the initials WJM carved into the wood and a notch on the bottom of the forearm for a possible resting position. The action is strong and it has a very good bore. The bore is shiny with very little pitting, and I would say this 86 would be a great shooter
