Description:
Manufactured in Manchester, England, this Whitworth Safari grade, .375 H&H Magnum, bolt-action rifle with a 24-inch barrel, a European low-gloss walnut stock with shadow line cheek piece and an ebony forend, factory express rear sights (1-standing & 2-folding leaves) set for 100, 200 & 300 yards, a hooded front sight, a barrel band sling mount, case-colored grip cap, hinged floor plate, a rubber recoil pad, and a Leopold VX-3 4.5-14x40 mm scope.  The overall weight of the gun is 9 pounds and 14.6 ounces.  The length of pull is slightly under 14 inches.   The year of manufacture of this gun is July 1985.  There are no box, papers, or accessories with this rifle.

The overall condition of this gun is 98+ percent, with a couple exceptions – the barrel bluing all around the front sight ramp appears have been subjected to heat (see last two photos).  I believe the front sight ramp was replaced and the new one silver soldered onto the barrel.  The heat required to solder the ramp in place was not enough to affect the metal of the barrel, though it would have affected the bluing.  All affected areas are smooth to the touch.  There are a few small scratches on the bottom of the barrel directly below the front sight and a small couple scratches on the hood of the front sight.  The gun is on consignment with me.  The owner inherited it some years ago, along with a couple other .375 magnums and a .416 magnum, from an old gunsmith who was probably the one who did the work on the front sight.  The current owner has never even fired any of the rifles.  He is also is not a gun guy and has no idea of this gun’s its history.

Aside from the foregoing, the finishes on the rest of the metal and wood are very excellent.  The bluing is near perfect, with no scratches, mars, blemishes, or other signs of wear.  The receiver also is in very excellent condition with no scratches, mars, blemishes, or other signs of wear – 100 percent.  The walnut stock and forearm also are in very excellent condition with a few very small line dents.  Nowhere is the finish penetrated.  The checkering on the stock and forearm are deep and crisp with no sign of wear – 100 percent.  The butt plate is in excellent condition; it is supple and has no drying or cracking.

The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better.

The buyer pays $65 for USPS Priority mail and $34.35 for insurance.  Virginia buyers must pay 5.3% sales tax.

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money orders, as they are like cash.  I will ship the revolver immediately upon receipt of a USPS money order and an FFL.  I will also accept a personal check or other type money, as well as bank checks and cashier's checks, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks.  I do not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal.

Check or money order must be made out to Jerry Pownall or Barboursville Arms.
