UNIQUE SPEAR-POINT BOWIE - One Of A Kind:
This unique, one-of-a-kind “SHORT SPEAR-POINT BOWIE” was made with a five inch carbon steel blade, Rosewood handle, brass single guard and end cap. The knife is serialized 6549 and bears an early variation of Bone’s “Small Bone” stamp. It was made in 1965 by Ralph Bone, during his brief one-year association with George C Stone.
Bone made the knives for their partnership; Stone did the marketing.
The serial number, 6549, on this “Short Spear-Point” Bowie” reveals that it was the forty-ninth experimental, uniquely-made and so numbered knife made by Ralph Bone in 1965. The knife remains in excellent, un-used, un-sharpened condition and the unique sheath, also, is in excellent condition.
Also of special interest about this unique knife is the accompanying sheath that Ralph Bone also made for the knife. The sheath, which Bone offered in his 1965 catalog for three different knife models, covers and protects the handle of the knife, in addition to covering and protecting the blade.
The subject experimental knife and sheath should be regarded by Bone knife collectors as a “must have”, unique example of Ralph Bone’s highly innovative knife making career.
