I bought this rifle, scope, and mount back in the 90s sometime. I was hoping that Ohio would eventually go to high powerered for hunting deer, but they never did. The barrel is nice and shiney. I cut the original bolt off, and made the one that you see on this rifle out of a piece of wrench, and the original ball on the end. I don't know that there ever was a "Sniper Carbine". It shoots very well. The original PU scope is only 3.5 power, but it has the clearest optics of any scope I've ever owned. I really like the "picked fence" reticle in this scope. I don't think it was ever shot before I got it, and I only ever put a box of shells through it. The first character on the serial number looks to be a Russian "D" letter, so I'm going with that. The breech stamp does not show all the parts of the numbers, but it appears that it's from 1943.
