Description:
Listed is a Antique Winchester 1892 in 25-20 WCF caliber receiver dated 1896 with a very good clean bore with strong visiable lands (8 out of 10 rating). This Antique rifle has 90% bluing on the 24" barrel and full length magazine with faded areas and sharp edge wear expected on a 127 year old Winchester. The receiver has 60-70% bluing remaining with brown patina areas and striations on both sides of the receiver created by the forging process which visually shows where the steel density (hardness) differs. The loading gate still has the factory fire blue appearance and case colors are still showing on the lever and hammer in protected areas after all these years. The wood is in very good condition and is proud to the metal with no splits or cracks just handling marks from years of service. The action works smoothly and locks up tight with no side to side movement. The sights appear to be correct (front sight Lyman Pat. date Aug. 31 1896) and the shotgun buttplate is correct and unaltered, serial number 142267 is as stamped on receiver. A true Piece of Winchester History that has been used but well preserved by the past owners, an above average Antique 1892 rifle ready for your collection.
