Description:
This is a .44 Center Fire Colt cartridge conversion of an antique Remington 1858 percussion Army. It is referred to as the factory 'Thin Plate' conversion. It was customized in the period following the Civil War. The hammer has been bobbed and the barrel reduced to just over 6 inches with a low brass front sight. The rammer was removed and a custom fitting put in place to retain the arbor pin. Internally the cylinder hand was shortened in order to allow hard and crisp cocking without wearing the gear on the rear of the conversion cylinder. This piece appears to have been carried by someone who used it a great deal, likely during the frontier settlement or the bloody Mexican Revolution, where pistols like this were in high demand. Sold as a collector item and not for any actual use. $25 basic Priority Mail. No FFL needed, but Buyer warrants that it is legal for him to purchase and own an antique firearm of this type. Thank you.
