"SN: 123287. Made in 1888. 44-40 caliber with a 3 ½" barrel. This is a very nice example of a sheriffs model with 5% of the original nickel finish. The eagle grips are original grips, but not to this gun. Ther is a small chip along the backstrap on the right hand side. Overall the grips are very good. This gun is a no record gun from Colt. It comes with a letter of authentication from noted Colt Single Action expert Ron Graham. Mr. Graham declares this gun to be completely authentic (with exception to the grips) and says the serial number of this gun falls into a range of over 50 known Sheriffs models. This gun was out of the John Irwin estate. Colt Sheriffs models are a variation where there is no ejector rod present.
