Description:
This is an excellent example of a compete World War II German M40 helmet. This helmet was issued to the German Luftwaffe as evidenced by the Luftwaffe decal on the left hand side (a flying eagle holding a swastika in its tallons). The helmet is solid with no rust, loose or missing parts, cracks or dents. The finished (rolled) edge and the air vents stamped into the helmet indicate it is an M40 and not an M35 or M42. It has a complete leather liner and leather chin strap, which are in very good condition. The decal is mostly complete, as can be seen in the picture. Inside the helmet is stamped "Q66" indicating it was made by Quist in Stuttgard, Germany, and a size 66 (66 cm). Also stamped inside the helmet is the number "11455", which i believe is a manufacturing lot number. This helmet will display very nicely in any collection.
