Description:
Very rare Texas Bowie knife with the soldier’s name on side plate Samuel J. Jenks Co E. The ivory/bone handle is scrimshawed with Texas Eagle-skull & crossbones. Maker marked Taylors ”Eye Witness”. Fort Worth Tx 1864 on other side of blade. This knife company started their business in 1838-Sheffield England. They shipped their knives to other knife & gun companies across the United States. Different slogans could be acid etched on the blades. Overall, the Bowie measures 15” long and the blade is 10-1/4 inches long.
