Description:
Winchester Model 52B sporter, .22 lr. This the iconic “adult” .22 bolt action rifle made to be right at home in your gun cabinet with your Winchester Model 70 Super Grade centerfire rifles. The 52 Sporter has the famous model 52 target gun action and fitted with a tapered, sporter style barrel with brass front sight bead. Stocked in fine walnut with recessed sling swivels, ebony forearm tip, raised cheek piece and fitted aluminum butt plate. The”B” version had an improved trigger and still had a receiver that was not drilled and tapped for scope attachment and it had a cheek piece.
All 52B sporters and nice wood with a varnish finish except Winchester offered options and variations, at a cost and only on a special-order basis. I mention that because this Sporter has the most spectacular factory wood that I have ever seen or even heard of; and it has a special order hand rubbed oil finish.
Made in 1947, so just post WWII, this gun retains 98% overall original finishes and has an original sling. 76 years old and beautiful.
