Description:
This is a first year pre-war Model 70 Winchester rifle that has been rechambered to the powerful 308 Norma Magnum. This rifle carries S/N 692 from the 1936 production run. Nice conversion, and hunted effectively in this configuration for years. This rifle has a great bore, has the hood on the front ramp sight, and a Marble filler blank in the midrange dovetail. It carries what I beleive is the original factory installed Lyman number 48 WJS receiver sight. The rear brigde has been drilled and taped to facilitate scope mounting (pic. 5). The blue coverage is quite nice on this rifle. The proof marks, script, and S/N are crisp and clear, and the rechamber caliber is clearly marked on the barrel as well. The stock is in very good condition, with a stadleized crack behind the tang, has nice clean checkering with the original metal butt plate intact.
