Description:
SOLD- PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS!
If you know about Mod 21s you know this is a rare one, a holy grail. This pre-war sn 16410 delivered in 1940 is fully documented by the Cody Firearms Museum factory letter and Winchester order sheet. Engraved by George Ulrich in the very desirable #4 pattern (he was the only master engraver doing the high-end guns in 1940). It was ordered as a rare FACTORY TWO BARREL SET, a 26" in WS1 and WS 2 (skeet) chokes and the other a very hard to find and desirable 30" F/F with factory THREE INCH CHAMBERS. Both are serial numbered to the gun (most two barrel sets you will see are a "composed" set meaning the second barrel was ordered later, not with the gun originally).

Being the strongest side by side ever built, the 21 will handle any 3 inch load you care to use.  The gun is completely ORIGINAL in unadulterated factory condition. All specs match the factory letter, even the beads.  The gun has been used in the field but has been well cared for. There is carry wear on the blue of the receiver and blue wear on the top lever  (80% blue is on action) but the engraving is still sharp, clear and deep as Ulrich's work is. Barrel blue is 98% on 30 inch set, 95% on 26 inch set.

The mechanics are excellent and it was stripped and cleaned, inspected and lubricated by VFI in 2019 and only shot once since then.  Bore  are shiny and bright, ribs are tight, no rust or pits anywhere. Screws are perfect and action tight and barrels tight on face.

The full fancy feathercrotch wood  is beautiful, no cracks or repairs anywhere. Checkering still strong.

The original factory Brady case from England with cover, which Winchester would supply as an option  for factory two barrel sets, is in excellent shape. This is a pre- Pearl Harbor time capsule and a testament to John Olin and all the craftsmen who made the finest, strongest shotgun that America ever produced.  You wont see this package in completely original shape often (George Ulrich only engraved about 200 guns in 16 years at Winchester, mostly #4 and higher) I am pricing this gun very fairly.
