It is built on a reliable J-Frame and has a stainless-steel frame, barrel and cylinder. It features black blade front sight and fixed rear sight and a snag-free enclosed hammer. The .357 Magnum cartridge is based upon Smith & Wesson's earlier .38 Special cartridge and is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics. .357 Magnum
