Description:
For consideration is a Colt Officers Model revolver in .38 Special. This Colt Officer's Model is chambered in .38 Special with a 6" barrel and a blued finish. It wears checkered diamond grips with molded in Colt Medallions and is in overall good condition with scattered peppering and wear consistent with age and being carried. This style revolver was originally released in 1908 as the Colt Army Special, it was renamed the "Colt's Official Police" in 1927 in order to better market to law enforcement agencies. It became one of the bestselling police firearms of all time, eventually coming to exemplify typical law enforcement officer weaponry in the 1950's The Official Police was also used by various U.S. and allied military forces during World War II. According to our research, this example was manufactured in 1925. Sights are blade front and windage adjustable rear. The 6" barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. There is some wear at the muzzle mostly on the left side. The action is smooth and locks up tightly in the "fired" condition. This fine Colt would be a great vintage shooter or maybe fill a niche in a growing collection.
