Description:
Beretta AR-70. The original rifles were developed by Beretta in the late 1960s for the Italian Army. They were the equivalent to the M16A2 rifles; however, they use a piston driven gas system and not the gas impingement system. With the interest in the Colt AR-15 rifles during the early 1970s, very few of these rifles were actually imported to the United States. The left side of the receiver is marked "BERETTA-PATENTED-MADE IN ITALY/Mod. AR 70/.223," and the right side is marked "Mod. 70/SPORT". This rifle features a two position, adjustable rear sight with a post front sight similar to the early AR-15s. The top of the receiver is fitted with a scope rail, and it has a synthetic stock and forearm with a ribbed synthetic grip. Includes canvas sling and box hand numbered to the gun.
