Description:
Browning Grade V (pre Diana) 20 gauge O/U shotgun. The Diana was not introduced until 1960 so this gun made in 1959 and engraved by Browning’s Master Engraver, Felix Funken is technically a Gr V. Master Funken was also the lead engraver at Browning who was responsible for the designs of the Pigeon, Pointer, Diana and Midas!
Making this long tang, round knob Grade V even more special is that it has 28” vent rib barrels and factory choke IC/Mod which was slight uncommon. Generally the IC/Mod guns were 26 ½” and the 28” guns were M/F.
As you can easily see from the photos the French Walnut has very nice contrasting colors that highlight the grain. The stock dimensions are pretty standard (except for the cast) at 14 1/8” LOP to the Browning buttplate, 1 ½” DAC and 2 ¼” DAH with 3/8” cast favoring a right hand shooter. Weight is 6 lbs. 0 oz.
So this gun is completely original and retains 97-98% original finishes with a few light handling marks that accumulated over the last 64 years!
