Description:
Thought to be a Second Model '53 Pattern with solid barrel bands that are retained by band springs. Lock is marked "1862" over "Tower" with the Crown behind the hammer. Has 2 flat steel barrel bands and a steel forend cap with the original ramrod. 37 inch round smoothbore barrel. Could be commercially manufactured by any number of private barrel, stock and lock makers. It does not have the crown and “VR” cipher or any martial marks. Has serial number 693 on the barrel flat. Wood shows typical handling mars and dings. Steel buttplate. Lock is not secure and wants to fall out. Gun needs a tune up.
