Description:
Winchester M1 Carbine, chambered in .30 Carbine. Features include: 18 in. barrel, 15 shot box mag, wood stocked, four position aperture rear, blade front sight with protective ears, with bayonet lug, gas operated action, metal butt plate, front sling swivel with slot in stock for sling, 5.2 lbs. This M1 carbine was made by Winchester with a serial number of 5597422, which indicates a manufacture date around March 1944. At first glance this would seem to be a type III carbine with the bayonet lug but it would appear that this carbine was re-arsenaled at some point. The bolt is flat indicating an early production type 1 style. The rear sights are the adjustable late war version with PI that meand Saginaw made them. The barrel is stamped Underwood with a 3-44 manufacture date and flaming bomb. You can see the Crossed cannons cartouche along with SG in a box that means Saginaw made the stock. The stock is also a high wood with oval oiler for the sling. The wood has seen some use with quite a few marks and scuffs. The finish appears to be parkerized. The bore is quite good with shiny clean lines. .30 Carbine
