****SOLD**** This is a beautiful, very lightly-used 1981 Colt New Frontier Single Action Revolver chambered in .44-40 WCF with a 7.5" inch barrel. This single-action Colt revolver features a gloss-blued 7.5" inch barrel, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, grip frame, and ejector housing, mated to a factory color case-hardened frame. The sights consist of an ramped front sight blade and an adjustable target-style rear sight, and the hammer is a 3-position type with polished-bright sides and gloss-blued front and rear faces. All of the action screws are gloss-blued in the frame, which is a nice contrast to the various mottled case colors on the frame. Introduced first in 1961, the New Frontier remained in production until 1982 when it was discontinued. It was designed and produced as Colt Single Action you could shoot targets with accurately with the adjustable target sights, something the Single Action Army does not have.
This particular example is in excellent condition inside and out. The factory finishes are all in great shape rating 97% +, showing only some very minor handling marks and few tiny spots of surface rust that were removed some time ago. As you can see from the pictures, there is nothing that stands out and detracts any appreciable amount from the exceptionally clean appearance of this New Frontier. The worst of the spots is on the right side of the frame, just below the front edge of the cylinder, and they blend into the case colors. All of the screws have clean slots, and the factory markings are all crisp and clean. The case colors are still nice and bright with no worn spots or faded areas. The bore in the 7.5" barrel is mirror-bright and pristine with perfect rifling and no visible defects. As mentioned before, this Colt appears to have been used VERY little, and the front face of the cylinder is clean and free from scorching, and the forcing cone is clean and free from any leading or fouling as well. The action on this Colt is slick, smooth, and perfectly in-time no matter how fast or slow you cycle the action. All of the controls work as designed, and the 3 positions on the hammer are all rock solid. This New Frontier still has easily 98% of it's service life still in it. If you have been looking for a Colt Single Action to add to your collection that will be both a great investment and a great shooter, this is it!
