ENGRAVED English Antique SILVER BANDED Pistol Belt Holster .50 Caliber
English BIG BORE Pistol Made Circa 1844
Here we present an antique Engraved English Silver Banded Pistol, made circa 1844 in London, England. This is the prototypical pistol of the short-lived percussion period (1830s-1860s). It is single shot and has a .50 caliber bore. Octagonal barrel with mounted front and rear sight. Single piece stock with the barrel secured by a wedge. This one has some engraving and the barrel is banded in silver. British proofs are under the barrel. This would have been a pistol carried in the belt or holster.
The overall condition is good. Refinished. The action is excellent. The bore is in very good condition with strong rifling. The stock shows use and some minor, stable splits; otherwise solid.
