Surely among the best you will see offered, here's an exceptional and rare Winchester 1876 Deluxe Short Rifle in 45-75 caliber.
S/N 50044 made in 1884.
Lettered 22" round barrel with full length mag tube. The bore is minty, bright and shiny throughout with pronounced rifling.
There are small British proof marks on breech end of barrel and receiver.
Original finishes throughout showing 95% Blue with quite vivid and nicely patterned case colors on the receiver, hammer, and forend cap and somewhat diminished on the lever.
Steel shotgun style buttplate with widow's peak heel.
The 3x wood set is simply beautiful with nice figure and very bright color. It wears a factory polished piano type finish with perfectly executed and clear H style checkering panels.
Sights consist of a Rocky Mountain style blade front, and the 1000 yd. ladder style at the rear, correctly stamped 1876.
Mechanical functions are crisp and working correctly.
Comes complete with a Gun Museum curator T. E. Hall letter confirming configuration.
