Description:
Silent movie star William Harts gun used in production of many of his early films. Gun was given to his friend and coworker at studio Ernie Brown with autographed photo endorsed to Brown upon Harts retirement. Also comes with hand written letter in Harts hand on his Ranch letterhead. Colt is an 1873 Artillary model wearing a 5.5 inch barrel with mixed numbers as is normal with re arsenal Artillery Colt . Very good condition with strong US marking and inspector stamps. Grips have cartouche markings. Barrel bottom is stamped W.C.CO. for Western Costume Company, which supplied the firearms and costumes to movie productions in the early film industry. No further provenance is available.
William Hart was a huge movie star in his day with Theodore Roosevelt and Wyatt Earp among his personal friends.
