BRITISH .60 Cal. Self Defense Belt/Holster Pistol
Here we present an antique Thomas Lloyd Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1850s in London, England. This would have likely been intended as a self-defense gun. The grip is solid walnut. In a day when the single shot pistol was the standard, this side by side percussion pistol would have been a very handy self-defense weapon to have around, having two shots to fire off instead of one!
This self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket or belt of anyone in the busy cities of London, Paris, or Liege during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s.
The overall condition is good. A smooth brown patina has formed over the damascus barrels. Strong action. Both bores are in good shape. Sharp markings and engravings. Solid grip/forend. “SAM” is marked on the wrist escutcheon.
