Description:
Spencer repeating rifle 1860 Carbine chambered in .56-52 Spencer. The Spencer is a lever-action repeating rifle using a falling breechblock mounted in a carrier. The hammer of the Spencer needs to be manually cocked after each loading cycle. The Spencer was the world's first military metallic cartridge repeating rifle. It was different from any other firearm because it was accurate, fired rapidly, had a long effective range, and held seven metallic cartridges so they weren't affected by moisture. Over 200,000 examples were manufactured between 1860 and 1869. It was adopted by the Union Army and the shorter and lighter carbine version was designed for the cavalry. George Armstrong Custer was an early user of the Spencer. None
