Description:
Serial #18207, .455 CF, 5 3/4" octagonal barrel with a fine, bright bore that has traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This revolver retains 90-95% of the original bright blue finish, with some fading to smooth plum-brown on the rear of the frame, as well as some silvering along the edges and corners. Additionally, there is some very sparse filigree engraving at fore and aft on the sides of the topstrap, the Adams commercial markings are crisp and clear on the right side, while the topstrap and barrel are engraved: "ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, 391 STRAND, LONDON", along the top. The cylinder is marked "C455", and the serial number has a double-struck "2" due to improper, perpendicular alignment when initially struck. The checkered walnut grip is in very good condition without any cracks or chips, but there is some light-moderate flattening of the points. The mechanism is fully functional, and the revolver rates very fine-near excellent condition overall. This is a great looking example of a late production, .455 Adams revolver, and has lots of original finish remaining. Antique.
