Description:
This was the official French service rifle from 1949 to 1979 chambered in 7.5x54 French Service Round. In the late 1950s, as France was part of the NATO alliance, an attempt to convert their MAS 49–56 rifles to use the 7.62 NATO round was commenced. After several years of trials the program was dropped. This rifle was made between 1958-1960. 7.62mm NATO/.308
