The Model 42 is an icon of Winchester firearms, made in the days of the highest quality control and hand fitted parts. The Model 42 was a flawlessly produced little pump gun, chambered only for the diminutive .410 shotgun shell. The Winchester Model 42 has been held dear in the eyes of the .410 aficionado, and there has been a strong following for the upgraded guns that have been highly decorated with fine floral scroll, gold inlays, fancy wood, etc. Angelo Bee is a world renowned Browning/FN master engraver, having worked at the FN plant in Belgium from 1951 to 1975, after which he moved to the USA. Master Engraver Angelo Bee is a sought-after engraving artist that has been responsible for many fine upgrades, and as he winds down his life’s work spanning decades, the attention to his accomplishments is multiplying rapidly. There are many fine gun enthusiasts that have made Angelo Bee works of art part of their investment strategy and collecting goals. There will always be buyers for his best creations. The M42 we have here is the most elaborately decorated Model 42 ever witnessed with 25 HEAVY, RAISED GOLD INLAYS SHOWING LIFELIKE DETAIL, EXTENSIVE GOLD WIRE INLAYS FRAMING THE ELABORATE, DEEPLY CUT LANDSCAPE SCENES AND BANK NOTE SCROLL WITH STIPPLED BACKGROUND, AND PHOTO-LIKE DETAIL OF THE HOMESTEADS AND SURROUNDING SCENERY. THE EXHIBITION WALNUT IS ADORNED WITH WINCHESTER’S A-CARVED CHECKERING AND A STUNNING HAND-RUBBED TRUOIL FINISH. EVEN THE SERIAL NUMBERS AND BARREL LETTERING ARE INLAID IN GOLD, ALONG WITH A BAND OF ENGRAVING AT THE MUZZLE, AND A DOVE IN FLIGHT AT THE END OF THE MAGAZINE TUBE! This beautiful Model 42, sn87356 originally built in 1951 and upgraded by Angelo in 2016, is a grand example of an Angelo Bee custom Winchester M42. Most unusual is the two-barrel set combination with 28” Modified choke barrel and 26” Skeet choked barrel, both with the desirable donut post verntilated ribs and 3” chambers, all housed in a custom fit case complete with a Winchester maker’s label. This gun shows as new, and likely has not been fired since the final product was delivered to the new owner. There are a lot of mediocre engraved M42’s for sale and if you are spending this kind of money for fine gun art, you should closely scrutinize the quality of the work. Few offered for sale at any price will compare to this masterpiece from Mr.Bee. We all love gorgeous wood on our guns, and we have that here for sure! What a gorgeous gun to have in your collection and to utilize in the field. These guns are sure to go up in value as Angelo is finally retiring.
