Description:
Winchester 1873 Rifle Third Model, chambered in .44-40 Win. Features include: iron frame with sideplates, frame loading port, 26 in. octagon barrel, forearm cap, tube mag., blue finish, oil finished stock, serial numbered on lower tang, dust cover rail integral with frame. According to Winchester's , the serial number of this rifle corresponds with a manufacture date of 1884. Model 1873 can be clearly seen on the top part of the tang. The receiver has turned to a brown patina, along with most of the barrel. The wood stock and forearm are in great shape apart from some scuff marks and wear lines here and there. The rifling is still nicely visible inside the bore. The butt plate shows the most wear with oxidation up and down the crescent. .44-40 Winchester
