Description:
This is a pre-Winchester Civil War era (c1863) Henry Rifle in .44 Rimfire Henry Flat caliber. The powder charge was only 26 to 28 grains of black powder.  It had a 16 round magazine below the barrel   It is marked as being inspected by Benjamin Tyler Henry himself.  There is the marks of the Union Army inspector C,G,C on the barrel breech, but I doubt that is authentic.  Please use the ZOOM feature to make your own evaluation of this well preserved historic rifle. Henry rifles are one of the most  desired of all Civil War arms. Many of these rifles were issued to state militias in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois Missouri and Kentucky as well as almost two thousand purchased by the Union Army.  Also, many soldiers purchased these guns for their own use. 8,000 Henry Rifles were produced by 1866 and it is estimated that between 6,000 to 7,000 were used in the War of Northern Aggression.  The fire power of these guns was said to be equal to about 15 men armed with single shot rifles at close range.

Antique, no paperwork required in most states.
