Description: Colt Civil War vintage Pocket Pistol, serial number 236288, made in 1862. All matching serial numbers, including the wedge. Most of the Pocket Pistols were 5 shot, this one is the harder to find 6 shot with the longer 6 inch barrel. Marked with single line "ADDRESS COL. SAML.COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA " on barrel, "COLTS PATENT "on frame and ".31 CAL " on trigger guard. Brass backstrap and trigger guard, I can find no evidence that they were ever silver plated. Well used but not abused, finish on wood grips is worn but partly intact, and has turned to patina on brass and iron surfaces. Cylinder rotates and locks up, but is slightly stiff. Bore is worn and pitted but still has strong visible rifling. The cylinder stagecoach scene is very faint, but still partly visible. Condition is fair to good, but is in pretty good shape for an historic 162 year old pistol that survived the Civil War and western expansion.
