Payment Types Accepted: Check, MO, Wire Transfer Description: Charles Slotterbek was a Lakeport, California gunmaker. He is listed in Larry Sheldon’s book on California Gunsmiths 1846-1900. This in a single shot breech loading 38-50 Ballard caliber rifle topped with a .695” telescopic site. The octagon barrel was .90” at the muzzle end and the breech was 1.085” wide. The barrel retains about 55% blue and the receiver retains 85% original nickel finish. The barrel has one of Slotterbek’s own design telescopic sights mounted on it. The wood is near excellent with sharp checkering on the fore end and the grip of the buttstock is very crisp as well. The butt has a crescent butt plate. This rifle has an adjustable set trigger. The bore is excellent bright and shiny and the mechanical function is very crisp and tight. The very similar rifle is on page 234 in Larry Sheldon’s Book. There are over 14 pages dedicated to Charles Slotterbek in this book. He was an exceptionally talented and quality gunmaker with a long gun making history.
