Serial number 424226 Barrel 32 5/8" caliber 45-70 Gov't Mfg 1888. blue finished barrel and furniture with case colored tilting breech. One piece walnut stock with 3 retaining bands. Post mounted blade front sight with Buffington Pattern adjustable rear sight. Breech marked "MODEL OF 1973" This pattern is known as the 1884 pattern with steel butt plate w/o trap and post front sight for attaching socket bayonet. SWP cartouche on left side from Samuel W, Porter chief inspector at Springfield Armory. Condition, Very good with bright sharp bore and properly operating lock. Stock is very good with period of use bruises but no cracks or material losses. Most all blue finish remains with some period oxidation exist. Antique
