1878 Colt SAA wearing a 7.5 inch barrel and chambered in 44/40 cartridge, (1878 being first year 44wcf was offered in a SAA by Colt.) Beautiful One-piece Elephant preban Ivory grips fit from-an 1861 Colt Army revolver with engraved Brass back strap. Action cycles as intended with loading notch held for loading. Good lockup. Barrel shows 145+ years of Black Powder use and still serviceable. Matching numbers on frame, trigger guard and cylinder. Engraved Brass backstrap shows serial of the 1861 Colt Army donor gun. Own A shooting piece of American West history cased in a Colt Walnut presentation case with Velvet lining. Antique firearm needs no ATF transfer and can be shipped direct where legal in most states. Gun was shipped from factory on 06/11/1878 to Spies&Tissan Company, New York City, New York with caliber of 44/40, barrel 7.5 inch, in shipment of 25 Colt SAA revolvers. Note: Colt Factory Archives letter has been ordered and will go with this fine Colt once sold.
