CIVIL WAR HARPERS FERRY U.S. MODEL 1816 PERCUSSION CONVERSION .69 CAL. 42” SMOOTHBORE MUSKET CIRCA 1850’S. Over 60,000 flintlock muskets converted in prior to and during the early civil War in Virginia alone. Typical all original conversion. Only the ramrod is a modern replacement. Lock plate stamped “HARPERS/FERRY/1820” behind hammer and has the “EAGLE/U.S.” stamp forward of it. Ordnance proofed at breech. Good overall with dark patina on metal. Old crack repair at wrist of stock but sound with the original worn finish. Lock in working order. Fair to good bore. Priced reasonably for an original Harper’s Ferry.
