Description:
Beautifull M-1873 Single Action Army Artillery Revolver manufactured by Colt in 1875 as a Cavalry model and converted to an Artillery model in 1903 by Colt during the Phillipine Insurection. Perfectly aged investment grade revolver professionaly restored in 1992 by Colt specialist Dave Lanara. The restoration is easily mistaken for a period factory refinish, the only apparent error being a case hardened firing pin, and careful use has left the vivid case color on the frame and hammer. Correctly compomposed with non matching component numbers, frame 17606, trigger guard 133078, and backstrap 3953.
Grips, barrel and cylinder are all unnumbered and have inspection marked "RAC" for Rinaldo A Carr. Other inspection marks are a "K" under the serial number on the trigger guard, "P" proof on the barrel, and an "A" behind the hammer on the top of the backstrap. "RAC" is also marked on the bottom of each grip along with the 1903 refurbishment cartouch on the right grip. Mr Lanara notes that the patent dates on the left of the frame beside a crisp "US" property marking were remarked during his restoration process along with him adding an "L" to the inside of the loading gate to mark his work.
Excellent as restored in 1992, Mechanically flawless with perfect action, strong lockup, and reliable timing while manageing all four clicks.
Colt letter was unavailable but was inspected by John Kopec as noted in his included letter.
