28" tapered round Henry-rifled barrel with blade front sight, 1 standing and 1 folding island-mounted leaf rear sights and flat-top breech. 14 1/2"pull to checkered steel trapdoor buttplate. Barrel Patent No. 3286. Action Patent Use No. 1475. Straight grained English walnut stocks with Key-fastened Alex Henry forend, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, beaded pancake cheekpiece, horn capped pistol grip and vacant gold initial oval. Fine scroll engraved sidelock action with right hammer and stalking safety. Weight: 7lbs, 3oz. Completed August 24, 1878. 85%blue, traces action color hardening. In old maker's full-length trunk case.
