This is an earlier iteration of the flintlock mechanism that remained popular in Spain much longer than the rest of Europe. This is a large martial or fighting pistol made for carry on a belt with that long hook. There is a maker’s mark on top of the barrel. There are some other markings on the left side of the barrel that may be unit inventory markings. The top of the grip has a large brass plate with a family crest featuring castles and rampant lions. The overall condition is good. Gray patina. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is a bit thin out toward the muzzle with some very minor splitting; otherwise solid.
